Setting up the 8 touch screen kiosks connected to each other ready for chatting.
30 Artists collaborating in Matter based in Londons O2 celebrating Diesel 30th birthday.
Touch screen interfaces allowed clubbers to log in using tagged wristbands swiped over a reader. Photo’s and messages could be added to the live stream which was displayed in realtime across all 8 kiosks and also projected into other areas of the club.
To mark the launch of the new Asics store in london, an installation was created allowing you to race against other runners and the London Circle Line over 3 races, with times logged into a leaderboard. The main challenge was detecting how far the user had run on a treadmill and feed that into a Flash based app.
To solve this a cunning solution was used, a white stripe was painted onto the treadmill and a webcam was focused onto it. As the camera picked up passes of white and black the Flash app was able to work out the distance the runner had travelled!
This was a very old experiment playing with bitmap caching in Flash. Works by duplicating movieClips and caching results to a bitmap. This technique allows you to give the impression of drawing forever without slow down. After this R&D, I used the code in the Jenson Buttons Design a Helmet app and subsequently the re.drawer experiements.
